This genuine boutique winery in the Wilyabrup sub region of Margaret River has much to offer – take a look at our full offering here.
Woody Nook: A genuine Margaret River boutique winery
Woody Nook is a boutique winery, producing just 7,500 cases a year. New plantings in 2007 doubled the size of Woody Nook’s single vineyard to 15 hectares. This vineyard nestles in the Margaret River wine-growing region of Western Australia, a three-hour drive south of the state capital Perth and six miles from the Indian Ocean. Established in 1982, the older vines are un-irrigated, resulting in low yields, full fruit flavours and distinctive varietal characteristics. The soil is a rich, gravelly loam; winters are mild with moderate rainfall; and summers are long, warm and sunny, all ideal conditions for producing fantastic quality grapes.
Woody Nook: Critically acclaimed wines
Woody Nook is family-owned and run, unpretentious and small, but they are proud of the critical acclaim consistently received for the quality of their wines. Both the viticultural and winemaking roles continue to be undertaken by Neil Gallagher, son of the original owners, and the person responsible for all the accolades given to Woody Nook by wine writers and competition judges. In the past 20 years Woody Nook has won more than 300 awards including 12 Trophies and over 50 Gold Medals. The motto of Neil’s parents ‘consistency counts’ is still very much the philosophy of Woody Nook today as they continue to produce handcrafted, premium wines.
Woody Nook: Flagship “Gallagher’s Choice” Cabernet Sauvignon
“Gallagher’s Choice” is Woody Nook’s flagship wine. It is a classic, full-bodied Margaret River style. Vibrant and complex, with a nose of ripe, mulberry-scented fruit with dusty oak overtones, the palate is well balanced. Every vintage wins multiple medals. The 2012’s show successes include 3 Golds and the 2013has won 4 Trophies, one for the best ‘Australian Red Wine’ at the International Wine Challenge.
